In 2011, I found myself in the full grips of anxiety and depression which led to suicidal thoughts. A few years prior, I had suffered a series of losses back to back. The death of my parents, death of my best friend, separation from marriage after 21 years, and found myself at a job that I once loved having little or no joy for it. In spite of all, I continued to PUSH and PRESS through life; ignoring my well-being and ignorant to recognizing the key signs and symptoms of mental distress.
Thanking God that through His help I was open to see and receive healing and deliverance; however, it was not easy. As such, I have become an advocate to break the silence. The silence of those knowing they are suffering yet walk with shame in admittance and in silence for those who do not recognize the signs and symptioms nor anyone around them.
I'm also an advocate to break the stigma. The stigma that mental illness is a sign of weakness or that you are crazy or that you can easily snap out of it... to name a few! These stigmas increases the silence and the rate of mental deterioriation due to the issue not being addressed/handled. It also increases the rate of suicide, those feeling like they are alone. Please know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
I host monthly mental wellness webinars to help people live a mentally and emotionally healthy life. It also helps others to recognize the signs in anyone that is around them that may need help. Join me during these monthly sessions. TAKE THE TIME TO TAKE CARE OF YOU!
